In Doctor Who you don’t say “I love you”, you say “See you around, Professor River Song.” which translates to “I suck at saying those words but hell if I am gonna let my wife die without telling her what she means to me” and I just think that’s so beautiful.

Clara has just mentioned seeing River. The Doctor says he always sees her. When Clara says she saw her, The Doctor is hit with the realisation that River in fact is real, and not just in his imagination. And that kills him.
